As part of a curated creative session, Beat Lab brought generations together — established producers and emerging beatmakers. The focus was on beats, groove, movement, and the relationship between sound, rhythm, and creative expression.

In spring 2025, producer legends behind tracks for Kendrick Lamar and Haftbefehl came together with young beatmakers and a true breaking icon. But one step at a time.

The Beat Lab took place at the Red Bull Music Studios in Berlin as part of the Red Bull BC One Cypher 2025. This context also explained the strong connection to breaking culture. Storm, a legend of the European breaking scene, played a key role in the session. He shared insights into the importance of breaking in the early days of hip-hop culture and explained how dancers have always felt a deep connection between beats, rhythm, and movement.

After the initial inspiration, the participating producers moved straight into creating. From the main studio with state-of-the-art equipment to intimate producer rooms and hidden sofa corners, spontaneous collaborations formed quickly. Ideas flowed naturally and continued late into the night.

The exchange was guided by DJ Just-A-Kid, who also performed at the BC One Cypher, alongside platinum producer Big Toni. Throughout the session, two experienced mentors supported the participants: Bazzazzian and Rascal.

The highlights of the Beat Lab were the detailed track breakdowns. Bazzazzian walked through the structure and production of Haftbefehl’s “RADW,” while Rascal explained the creative process behind Kendrick Lamar’s “GNX,” offering rare insights into high-level production, sound design, and artistic decision-making.

A space where inspiration met technique, experience met the next generation, and beats turned into movement.
